Our Story

HOW ITSTARTED...

Yes, you guessed it, we’re sisters! And this is where Curious Pencil began.

Back in 2015, we stumbled upon the inspiration to combine our skills, Simone with a love for creative writing, and Sheleen with a passion for art, and created our very first greeting card. It started with a simple heartbeat, rooted in our Christian values, to make people feel seen, valued, and appreciated. What began at craft fairs, local giftshops and market stalls quickly became something more meaningful as we saw the impact our cards were having in real time. Someone would pick one up, read it, pause, smile, sometimes even get emotional. Those moments stayed with us...

AND THEN...

... Meanwhile, Simone was working as a Mortgage Advisor for a high street bank. Here she noticed buying a home, one of life’s biggest milestones, often was purely transactional. There was no real acknowledgement, no personal touch, no sense of celebration. The difference between that experience, and what we were seeing with our cards was hard to ignore. On one side, we saw the emotional impact a simple card has, and on the other, how easily those moments were missed in the corporate world. It was clear that each transaction, could be a moment of connection....

... brought the two together. We began creating hand-illustrated greeting cards for businesses that feel thoughtful, warm, and human. Cards that help businesses connect with people in a more meaningful way. Because for us, this has always been personal. Family is at the heart of what we do, and it shapes how we see business. People are not numbers, they are individuals who want to feel seen and appreciated.
